Media Technologies for Business
Media technologies are a new way to communicate, collaborate and enjoy content. However, they also require business leaders to make crucial changes in strategy, culture and systems.
All industries are facing disruption, but it has been particularly evident in the media industry. It’s the reason why once powerful companies like Tower Records and Blockbuster Video have been shut down. It’s the reason newspapers are shrinking and shifting online, and it’s why so many shows on TV were canceled.
Businesses must be resilient and flexible in the face of this constant change. They should also embrace new forms and methods of collaboration, and rely on flexible and integrated systems to make better choices and produce quicker results.
Digital media is any form of digital data. At its most basic, digital data is a set of binary signals (zeroes or ones) that are transmitted through satellites or digital cables and received by devices which convert them into audios, videos, graphics, texts and much more. It encompasses everything from streaming movies and TV programs on services like Netflix to virtual reality surgical simulators used in medical facilities. It also includes sites like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram which allow users to interact with each other by posting videos, pictures and messages.
